Uncovered Prints and Drawings at Bar Antidote

My show “Uncovered Prints and Drawings” is on exhibit at Bar Antidote in Vergennes, VT, through the spring. The show features prints and drawings executed in my NYC studio and Robert Reynolds’ printmaking studio in Branford, CT, in the early 2000’s.

Feature Story in Addison Independent Arts + Leisure

Thanks so much Elsie Lynn Parini from Addison Independent for the reintroduction to Vermont. Its great to be back in my Vergennes studio. I’m looking forward to the Vermont Open Studio Weekend in May for my grand re-opening. In the meantime, the studio is open by appointment or chance this winter.

Printing Fingerprint Prints

Our bodies make prints in some physical capacity everyday. We make footprints in the sand, leave handprints on the doors we open, and in some cases, give fingerprints after being arrested…

My latest group of monotypes, examine how my own fingerprints have slightly altered over time due to scarring, burning and loss of tissue. The original linear design of our fingerprint confirms our existence while the aged fingerprint tells our life story.

I find it symbolic and natural to use a monotype process to produce a unique print of a unique fingerprint.

Art Treasures

Last night, in the bottom of a nondescript box, I was happy to discover this long lost cache of watercolor and ink drawings executed in Holland. They were tucked into a small sketchbook consisting of ink drawings made on commuter trains in and around NYC in the early 2000’s.

The Evolution of a Paint Rag

I’ve started to get into the habit of wiping off excess oil paint from palette knives and brushes on common studio objects and pieces of fabric. This is a piece of felt that’s been used as my painting rag for the past year and now its evolving into a painting.

New Printmaking Press Installed

Thanks to John at Vermont Art Supply, Tim at Holbein Artist Materials and Jack Sheehan for helping me get my printmaking press set-up. I’ve been experimenting with monotypes, painting, drawing and collage combination techniques and am looking forward to a long winter of making prints.

You can see some examples of my printmaking here.

California to Vermont Relocation

Its been a great run in California for the last couple of years. I’m getting my in-progress, wet artwork packed up to move back to Vermont. Living and working in the coast side environment has propelled my work in a positive new direction. Wish I could take my studio door with me…
